Youth Are Resources Conference

Youth Are Resources Conference

What is YAR?

Youth Are Resources, or YAR, is a conference for and about student peer helping. For over 30 years, San Francisco Peer Resources have gathered 400 of San Francisco’s finest youth leaders for a day of engaging presentations, dynamic speakers, and fun.

What kinds of workshops will I see?

To help keep our workshops grounded in the issues youth face every day, we have youth design, present, and evaluate the workshops at YAR. Check out some of our past workshop titles and descriptions to get an idea of the kind of things you will go to.

Who is hosting this?

The Youth Are Resources conference is hosted by San Francisco Peer Resources.  For 30 years, the San Francisco Unified School District and the San Francisco Education Fund have collaborated to operate San Francisco Peer Resources, the largest school-based peer support program in the country.  Peer Resources think youth are amazing.  We also think youth can make a difference, right now, on the problems facing their communities.  And we mean the real challenges youth face like gangs, drugs, unemployment, crappy buses, underfunded schools, and violence—just to name a few.  We think youth care about these things, know a lot about the causes, and have the passion to do something about it.  In short, we think young people have superpowers…and we want to help them use them for good.  Learn more about Peer Resources.
