California Hearing on No Child Left Behind Act
The San Francisco Education Fund and the Public Education Network have provided a unique opportunity for community members to share their views on the federal No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and make recommendations on how the law may be improved.
In January 2006, nearly 300 Bay Area parents, students, and community leaders crowded into the San Francisco Main Public Library’s Koret Auditorium and at times lined up to give testimony at this public hearing. Click here to download a copy of the hearing transcript.
Community members also had the opportunity to provide online testimony by taking a short survey on NCLB. Click here to view survey results.
This California hearing was one of nine public hearings held by the Public Education Network with state and regional partners across the country. To learn more about the Public Education Network's national hearings, click here.
The results of these hearings and online testimony have been published in a series of national and state reports. Click here to view the California report.
