"When I think about the value of the Ed Fund, I think about kids and kids' faces...I see kids who are seeing a future for themselves, one that's off the street, with jobs and an education."

Peer Resources

Our Mission

San Francisco Peer Resources believes youth are capable leaders who can be effective allies for their peers. We are committed to developing young leaders in San Francisco with the use of fun, creative, and interactive strategies that build safety, confidence, and skills. Together we explore issues facing youth today. Young leaders then help their peers and create positive change around these issues at their schools and in the larger community. Our Programs

Our Goals

Peer Resources offers a variety of programs for San Francisco Unified School District students. Ranging from conflict mediation to peer counseling, the overall goals of these programs are to:

  • Promote academic achievement in students.
  • Prevent violence through personal conflict management or mediation.
  • Build skills and give information that encourages healthy living habits.
  • Provide counseling or referral services as needed.
  • Encourage students to develop leadership and organizational skills.

Our Accomplishments

Last year Peer Resources operated in 19 sites, including more than three after-school sites. Peer Resources programs operated in 13 high schools and six middle schools throughout San Francisco. More than 1,200 students were trained as peer helpers, and nearly 14,834 students benefited by participating in the programs.
