Peer Support Groups

Peer Support Groups Make a Difference.

Peer Support Groups are theme- or topic-based discussions that are co-facilitated by trained students and an adult coordinator. Support groups take place during or after school and offer safe places for youth to discuss sensitive issues. Support group meetings include check-ins, group discussion, journaling, and team-building activities. Discussion topics include racism, sexism, homophobia, and adulthood.

Program Accomplishments

A total of 650 support group meetings took place last year, 344 of which were peer-led, with 128 Peer Resources students as facilitators. Almost 600 students attended support group sessions on a regular basis.
