Conflict Mediators Make a Difference.
Conflict Mediation provides a forum for students to negotiate non-violent resolutions to disputes without the intervention of an adult. Student conflict mediators receive specific training to teach them how to help other students peacefully resolve their differences. With violence on the rise in San Francisco public schools, the conflict mediation program is gaining popularity as a neutral means for conflict resolution. Students who need mediation services either voluntarily seek services or are referred by teachers or administrators.
Program Accomplishments
Last year a total of 391 students became conflict mediators, and 1,089 students participated in mediation activities. Approximately 93% of conflicts were successfully resolved.
