Bank of America Gives Burton High School College Makeover
—Jan. 17, 2011. Continuing their tradition of school campus makeovers, more than 30 Bank of America recruits and 20 Burton students celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday by transforming the Phillip and Sala Burton Academic High School into a campus which visually encourages students to continue their education after high school. Volunteers painted hallways and created a roadmap-to-college-success mural. The addition of collegiate banners and pennants will complete the makeover.
This is the second year Bank of America has chosen a college-themed service project because it aligns their volunteer efforts with their financial support of our Post-Secondary Success Program, which builds a consortium of school site, district, and community partners to increase the number of low-income students that apply and are successful in postsecondary pursuits.
