Programs

"Good teachers form the foundation of good schools, and improving teachers’ skills and knowledge is one of the most important investments of time and money that local, state, and national leaders make in education."

Educator Programs

We promote excellent and equitable outcomes for all students through supporting their teachers. Our programs increase capacity, build leadership, and promote professional collaboration and growth among educators as well as link schools with resources to support their success. In particular, we reach out to educators and schools who work with under-served student populations.

Our programs for educators include:

  • Leadership and Professional Development Grants Program — grants to teams of educators to support innovative projects for students and teacher professional development
  • Math and Science Network — a professional learning community to support the improvement of Math and Science instruction
  • Literacy Network — a professional learning community to support the improvement of literacy instruction
  • Teachers Leadership Institute — a professional learning community to support teacher leaders and connect in-school "craft knowledge" with larger policy conversations about what really works in public education
  • Fellowships — opportunities for teachers to take free classes at UC Berkeley or UC Extension in order to enhance their knowledge in the subject areas they teach
  • Revitalizing High School Libraries Initiative — a national initiative to create high school library media centers that are true centers of teaching and learning and that create school cultures valuing and fostering high levels of student literacy
  • Resources for Educators — an initiative to link schools, teachers, and students with community-based resources to enhance learning opportunities for all students
