Programs

“Good teachers form the foundation of good schools, and improving teachers’ skills and knowledge is one of the most important investments of time and money that local, state, and national leaders make in education.”

“Research Points,” American Educational Research Association, Summer 2005.

Educators

We promote excellent and equitable outcomes for all students through supporting their teachers. Our programs increase capacity, build leadership and promote professional collaboration and growth among educators as well as link schools with resources to support their success. In particular, we reach out to educators and schools who work with under-served student populations.

Our programs for educators include:

  • Teacher Professional Development — Competitive grants made to teams of teachers to form communities where they can safely and honestly look at issues of race, class and privilege in relation to their own teaching and student results in an effort to bridge the achievement gap.
  • San Francisco Teacher Residency — Aspiring teachers integrate their master’s level course work with an intensive, full-year classroom residency alongside an experienced mentor.
  • Volunteers in the Classroom — Each year the Education Fund recruits, trains, places and supports more than 800 community and business volunteers in a wide range of roles.
