"I will continue to access the resources for global and technological communication that I was exposed to. The course’s teacher was very skilled and inspirational. Her insights helped sustain my teaching practices."

Fellowships

The San Francisco Education Fund believes that investing in teacher-leaders is one of the most powerful ways to effect positive change for students in schools, and our fellowship programs were designed to meet the growing leadership and professional development needs of educators.

Josephine Miles Fellowship

(this program is currently suspended)

The Josephine Miles Fellowship is an excellent way for teachers in San Francisco public schools to renew their enthusiasm for and commitment to their profession. Through the thoughtful construction of a professional development plan that incorporates a UC Berkeley or UC extension course, Josephine Miles Fellows acquire new skills they can use in the classroom, take on leadership roles at their school sites, and creatively collaborate with their colleagues.

Golden Apple Fellowship

(this program is currently suspended)

The Golden Apple Fellowship gives outstanding educators in San Francisco public schools the opportunity to improve their teaching skills by taking a semester off from their regular teaching duties to pursue coursework at UC Berkeley. Under the guidance of UC Berkeley faculty advisors, the fellowship provides teachers with time to sharpen their subject matter expertise, broaden their knowledge base, and reflect on ways to teach more effectively.
