Eligibility and Deadlines
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- U.S. citizenship, national, or permanent residency
- Passing scores from CSET and CBEST. Please note, CSET must be taken no later than January 7, 2012. CBEST must be taken no later than February 4, 2012
- Admission into the University of San Francisco Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), or Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP)
- Priority consideration for SFTR will only be granted to candidates admitted for either a secondary math or science, or Spanish bilingual credential. Space will be limited for candidates seeking the elementary multiple subjects credential
- Spanish bilingual candidates must complete a Spanish language interview before receiving admission to SFTR
Application Process
There is a three-step process for applying to the San Francisco Teacher Residency.
Step One
Applicants must pass and submit scores from CSET and CBEST.
Please note: For your application to be reviewed you will need to have taken the CSET and CBEST exams by the following dates:
Later test dates will not allow us to review your application in time.
Step Two
Applicants must apply and be admitted to the teaching program at one of our partner institutions—Stanford University or University of San Francisco—for a secondary math or science credential or for a bilingual Spanish credential. There will also be a very limited number of spaces for candidates for the elementary multiple subjects credential.

Step Three
Complete the supplemental application to the San Francisco Teacher Residency program.
University of San Francisco applicants, please submit both the USF paper application and the supplemental SFTR application, including “SFTR” at the top of the USF application.
Stanford applicants will be invited to submit the supplemental SFTR application after they have received notification of admission to Stanford.
