“This is the best ‘job’ I've ever had. I get so much more than I give. Every day I am loved by these little darlings.”

School Volunteers
Activities
Volunteers work one-on-one or with small groups of students, engaging in a wide range of activities including reading, solving math problems, tutoring, art, music and gardening projects, editing college applications for high school seniors and coaching sports. Time commitment
School volunteers commit to volunteering at least one hour a week at schools for a semester. Volunteers can help in classrooms during the school day (8am – 3pm) or in afterschool programs (3pm – 6pm). There are occasionally weekend opportunities. New volunteer orientation
Every new volunteer attends a two-hour orientation to learn what it means to volunteer in the San Francisco Unified School District. Volunteers meet with our staff to discuss their interests and skills in order to find a placement that best fits them. Find out how to apply.
